Vision, Ethos & Values

At Laburnum, the aim is to maximise the life chances of pupils and challenge them all to work hard and achieve as individuals across a broad curriculum. Pupils are nurtured to show respect for themselves, others and the wider community by developing positive relationships built on our school core expectations: Challenge, Achieve, Respect, Effort, Safe (CARES).

Laburnum Primary School has high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and learning, underpinned by academic and behaviour curriculums. The school aims to develop a sense of community and shared responsibility.  Weekly assemblies recognise and celebrate children and classes who display the core expectations and focus on sharing everyone’s achievements. Children are taught about their place in the wider community and regularly take part in local and national fund-raising events. From supporting our local hospice and food bank, to raising money for Comic Relief Laburnum Primary School helps children to realise that they have a place in the heart of the community, serving each other.

Children leave Laburnum well prepared for the next stage of education, confident to try new things and able to recognise their successes and personal achievements.

Laburnum Primary School incorporates the trust values of Integrity, Ambition, and Excellence within our own school core expectations and curriculum.

The school’s work is subject to “the Sophie test” – named after the daughter of the founder of Advantage Schools -which means, simply, “if it isn’t good enough for our own children, it isn’t good enough.”

WE BELIEVE, GIVEN THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES, ALL CHILDREN ARE CAPABLE OF EXTRAORDINARY THINGS.
