All the fun of the (Steam) Fayre!

At Laburnum, we enhance the basic curriculum with visits, visitors and real-life experiences where possible and on Friday (13th September) we had our first visit of the year. Year 4 visited the Bedfordshire Steam & Country Fayre linked to their learning in History. The children had a fantastic time with every child being able to climb up onto a traction engine and having a ride on the steam powered gallopers. When the children talk about steam engines in class and the coming of the railway to Bedford, they will have a much better concept of what a steam powered vehicle is. They returned home just in time for assembly, tired and smelling of the steam fayre, but with lots to share and talk about.
